A Day that was supposed to be for celebration in the City of Boston has turned to horror. Two bombs went off at the finish of the Boston Marathon causing injuries, lost limbs, and as of this report two were confirmed dead.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Boston.
Shortly after the first bomb went off a member of the part of the Oregon contingent tweeted that they were all ok, in their hotel rooms and cell phone service was pretty much non existent.
Here is the link to the folks from Oregon who were in the Boston Marathon.
At least eight runners linked to the University of Oregon were in the race.
Two more explosive devices have been found at the scene and are being dismantled, according to the Associated Press.
Many of those injured were spectators, families, and children. for those that don’t know today is known as Patriots Day in Boston, a day for celebration. It is a civic holiday and schools are closed.
Again, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Boston on this horrific day.

In a press conference at the State Capital on Thursday afternoon, it was announced that for the third time in a row the Olympic Trials will be on Tracktown soil at Hayward Field in Eugene. There were several speakers to accept the Trials back to the state including Governer Kitzhaber, University of Oregon President Michael R. Gottfredson, and 2012 Trials Committee Co Chair and former Oregon coach Vin Lananna.

On Friday Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota caught up with ESPN 1080 the Fan in Portland. He led the Ducks to a Fiesta Bowl victory vs Kansas State last season, and is looking forward to the 2013 season, specifically Stanford.

You can tell it’s Spring in Eugene when Oregon Football practice is set to start. This will be the first year for new Head Coach Mark Helfrich running the ship, and he had hinted to the possibility of (and I say this cautiously) more on that in a minute.

Many of us know by now where we will be Friday at 4:15pm. For those who don’t know the game is on CBS. For Oregon there is one goal. To continue playing in the NCAA Tournament. The media has made this out to be a David vs Goliath matchup giving the Ducks nothing but the mention that they are playing probably the Top Team in the Country.

Oregon is in the Sweet 16 and from the sound of it, are pretty big underdogs going into Friday. Several Mock Drafts have Dion Jordan headed to Philly, and a Spring Game must see. A former player returns to score a touchdown at Cal’s Spring game. Could Oregon be lining up something similar next month? We’ll have to wait and see. Plus, with Oregon’s Sweep of Arizona over the weekend, Baseball moves up in the polls. Welcome to This Week’s LinkedUp on AutzenZoo.

Oregon (26-4, 3-0 Pac 12) welcomed #15 Stanford (22-8, 0-3) to town to start Pac 12 Play and the Ducks sent them away without a win. Freshman Starting Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins pitched and won all three games vs Stanford this weekend and was named Pac 12 Pitcher of the Week, the fifth Duck to pick up multiple honors.

The Ducks(28-8), led by Freshman Damyean Dotson’s 23 points, including his first five three point attempts, took a 35-19 lead into halftime and never looked back taking care of the St Louis Billikens(28-7) 74-57.

Damyean Dotson led Oregon(28-8) over St Louis(28-7) with 23 points and hit his first five three pointers as Oregon knocked out the Billikens 74-57 on Saturday night.

When I look at these two teams that are very similar, Oregon (26-8, 12-6 Pac 12) and Oklahoma State(24-8, 13-5 Big 12). The Ducks could face some big matchup problems today, the main one being Freshman Marcus Smart

In his first meeting with Oregon Reporters on Wednesday, Freshman Guard Dominic Artis said his injured foot is feeling better and he’s ready to go.

There are of course other ways to choose who moves through to the Final Four, you could use the ‘let my wife choose her favorite mascots’ approach. This year my wife has Bulldogs vs Bulldogs for the NCAA Championship. You could be like Andy Wheeler from CBS Philly and choose several different ways, including my favorite, The Moron. An article from several years ago offers up ‘How to Choose a Bracket Like a Girl’. AddictedtoQuackcreated a rating system for picks.

The Oregon Ducks were picked as the #12 seed playing in the Midwest Regional. Their first game is Thursday afternoon just before 2pm Pacific time against #5 seed Oklahoma State. Both of these teams are fairly close both in the Win/Loss Column. The Ducks finished the year 28-6, 12-6 in the Pac 12 – Kansas State finished 24-8, 13-5 in the Big 12. The Big 12 conference was led this season by both Kansas, a Number 1 seed in the Tournament and playing in the South Region and Kansas State, a 4 seed in the West.g
